about

Renate Beense | 1975 | Amsterdam

I am an enthusiastic, social, chaotic and spontaneous person full of humour. My images often portray these characteristics. In my photographs I like to tell people's stories, but better still, my vision of their stories. In my photography I'm looking for the balance between tragedy and comedy. Laughing gives one strength, it connects people and it makes difficult subjects accessible. Humour and energy are therefore elements I strive to include as much as possible.
